Prince Sivalo Mahlangu
As a Chef, Filmmaker, and Storyteller, Prince Sivalo Mahlangu is defined by his
commitment to exploring the intricate intersections of food, culture, and heritage.
His work prioritizes the authentic essence of Zimbabwean identity, brought to life
through compelling visual and culinary narratives.
Mahlangu’s foundational project is the highly acclaimed documentary series,
‘Magriza Made Me Cook.’ Born from an imperative to preserve and disseminate
indigenous knowledge, the series stands as a vital record of African culinary
traditions. His exploration of food culture extends beyond borders, with
documentary work spanning Botswana, Ethiopia, and the Kingdom of Eswatini. In
the kitchen, Prince translates this research into action, hosting immersive cooking
classes and traveling extensively to advocate for the revitalized uptake of
indigenous grains and traditional Zimbabwean cuisine.
